The Nalanda Project: Content Creation, Distribution and Management System

The Nalanda Project is an in-class technology intervention that empowers students to take charge of their learning and allows teachers to efficiently deliver classroom instruction. Nalanda is implemented in major cities like Mumbai, Pune and Delhi, covering around 50 schools and more than 10,000 students. The Nalanda Project needed a tool or platform which would enable them to create content and share it effectively across their many schools and centres.

Solution

We used the Kolibri platform to create content and share it across the various schools and centres in the Nalanda network. The content is aligned and mapped to the local curriculum. Sushi Chef is used to import content from different content providers, and we use scripts to set up servers which contain the Kolibri platform and initial setup. We have built a web application dashboard which monitors real time data and tracks student progress.

Technology stack

  • Kolibri
  • Python/Django
  • Bash scripting

Project Duration: 2 years

Status: In Progress
